Marketing ideas for Evangelists

The idea of ministry marketing for evangelists using the latest technology, specifically a video marketing strategy, involves helping these men and women of God to continue preaching the Word of God without the worry and concern of finances.

Can a traveling minister of the Gospel raise resources from another area, in addition to finances gained by preaching, to continue in his destiny to reach and touch the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

I believe they can! And I believe the gifts they have, such as their relationship with God, their public speaking skills, and the ability to communicate effectively one on one to people can be the skills to help them. I believe they can find solid businesses, such as LocalAdLink, to gain additional income on the side.

Chris Forbes, founder of Ministry Marketing Coach, lays an incredible foundation for those in ministry, in helping them understand practical ideas that can assist in their particular ministry. His wisdom for church marketing is tremendous! I think his ministry marketing ideas show the years of experience he's had to help so many different kinds of ministries.

In his series on "Marketing Ideas For Vocational Evangelists", he gives advice that can not only be applied to promotion of one's specific ministry, but also for an additional business and Networking opportunity to gain another source of income.

The one point I want to emphasize is how it relates to using video, and how evangelists must have a "You Marketing" focus. This kind of focus deals with what you have to offer to people. It's not all about you, but about how you can help the people you serve.

Chris writes: "When you speak to your audience, you need to talk about the impact you can help the church make.....Here’s an example of what I mean using copy adapted from a website:

'Evangelist John Doe is a dynamic man of God who brings messages that help people grow in the basics of the Christian life. These lessons give practical tips on how to become the kind of Christian that God desires for us all to become.'

VS

'How to be the kind of Christian God wants you to be'; Grow in the basics of the Christian life with these practical tips from Evangelist John Doe.'

"In the first example Evangelists John Doe is the star of the show. It is a classic form of “You” marketing. In the second example, the focus is on 'Me' and my needs. The second example is far more appealing to the reader.'"

Here is a video example of this kind of "You" marketing strategy from a promotional video by Ministry Marketing Productions for Harriet Bradley Ministries:

You can see in this video how Rev. Bradley focused her attention on her audience, whether they were in the TBN audience or watching the actual promotional DVD.

Evangelists Taking Advantage Of Video

More and more evangelists are seeing the internet as a newfound opportunity to evangelize a worldwide audience. They are taking advantage of using Easy Video Tools, Power Video Strategies, and Video Ministry to reach out to the hundreds of thousands watching videos online each day.

According to recent studies, more and more people are watching less television so they can spend more time going on the internet. We also know by statistics that they are spending an enormous amount of time watching videos!

Check these stats out: Recent numbers released by ComScore indicate that internet users in the United States watched more than 10 billion online videos during the month of February. That's a 66 percent gain from the previous year.

Leading the pack, with a 35.4 percent share of videos viewed throughout the month, were Google-owned video sites--in other words, YouTube. The total video count for Google, according to ComScore, is about 3.6 billion, 3.42 billion of which were YouTube-specific. In a distant second place is News Corp.'s Fox Interactive Media (MySpaceTV and its ilk) with 5.8 percent of the market. (As reported by CNET News Blog)

The harvest truly is plentiful...online. God is raising up laborers, evangelists, who are starting Video Ministries on the internet!

Finding Freedom To Serve God

This quote from Mike Dillard, one of the leaders in the new web 2.0 marketing world struck me as so powerful in regards to this focus on evangelists:

"A REAL, life-long business that is completely immune to attrition and market trends can be built, but it can't be centered around an opportunity or a product. It must be built around you, your name, and your relationships. That's your true asset because it cannot be taken away. Networking is a people business driven by marketing."

Now replace "you" with "Jesus", "your name" with "your anointing" from God....and "networking" with ministry. I can't help but see some powerful correlation and truth!

Authoring Your Way To Profit and Promotion

One effective tool for marketing as an evangelists involves writing your own book. Whether it's an e-book or an actual book for publication, you can share your testimony, your ministry, and your life in an intimate way with your writing.

Evangelist Robert Kidd stepped out in faith to hear the call of God to full time evangelism. He has just recently published his first book entitled, "From A Father To His Son".

A true pioneer in ministry marketing with book publishing is my colleague Pam Perry, with Ministry Marketing Solutions.

If you are looking for cutting edge marketing strategies to get your story, your book, published, Pam Perry's passion is to serve you! As she exclaims on her website: "....It’s my calling! I will walk you through the steps to help you fulfill your dreams. I can help you as your PR Coach by giving you all of my industry resources, contacts, best-selling tips, proven PR strategies to get your book 'out there.'"
